Nearly a month ago at last I managed to visit New York ,during a short conversation with my brother I was told to go and visit the Metropolitan Museum, specially the section dedicated to Iran. I spent nearly 3 hours there, wandering around the galleries, at two points my legs started feeling weak, I felt like crying, I was overwhelmed by the pieces in front of me...I decided I didn't have enough energy to see the rest of the museum, before leaving the museum I decided to buy a book about Iran, there were these little booths were you could find different books about different sections of the museum, I couldn't find any about Iran. This reminded me of another similar experience in Paris, Louvre, 3 years ago. The same feeling, the same sadness. I have these complex feelings and thoughts in me , and what is hurting me deeply is my lack of knowledge about my past and present, what I feel is necessary in order to be able to imagine any future at all. I have become tired of hearing about the greatness of my background and the Persian civilization without having profound knowledge about it, it's this superficial knowledge about our past and present which is keeping us in the state we are, in my opinion. And I know the easiest way to start changing starts right here, as a friend always quotes from Gandhi at the end of her emails "You must be the change you wish to see in the world"...So this is my journey. It may not be systematic or truly scientific sometimes, but I will try to continue it, with whatever resources and time I can find. Finally I should mention that my brother has started this journey long before me, with much more dedication, and his love is my inspiration. And as the last word, I appreciate any comments and recommendations.

This looks like a really magnificant residence! I really like those stained glass windows! Was this the home of a Shah in the mid 1800's?
Ok sorry David I had made a mistake, this is Abbasian residence, made at late 1700s, and it belonged to a rich merchant. I am preparing posts about other famous houses in Kashan and I had mistitled this one.
